24 – Season 7, Episode 6 Review

7.06 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M.

It’s a stiffy old time in 24 (not in that way).
Remember this will be a SPOILER review.
The plot sure advanced during this hour which is always a good thing. We’ve had six hours so far and a lot has happened during those hours. With the pace like this, we shouldn’t be getting bored. Though the problem within this hour was that the plot advancements took up the entire episode.

Firstly we had Emerson twiging on to the fact that something was not right between Jack and Tony. This eventually resulted in Emerson’s death by the hands of Tony. An earlier conversation stated that they felt like they were brothers so you could see the pain from Tony having to shoot Emerson. Though the main purpose of Jack and Tony was too deliver Matobo. Sadly this took up mostly the enitre episode. So much of it was Jack and Tony waiting around until the end when we got Jack being a sniper.

Bill and Chloe returned and rescued Renee from her grave. Plus the old adrenaline in the heart is a good film/TV method of reviving someone. They then told her about what they were up to and there’s nothing that she can do but follow them. They rendevous with Jack and Tony to prep the meeting. Chloe fits Matobo with a tracking device. While Renee wasn’t too happy about Jack shooting her. I’m sure it won’t be long until she’s fawning over him again.

President Taylor was pushed to breaking point in her decision over if she should pull the troops back from Sangala. Dubaku had enough and crashed two planes in to each other. Though still Taylor stuck by her morals and would vow not to give in to his demands. It seems her unpopular decision will cost even more lives as Dubaku plans a bigger attack which will cost thousands of American lives.

While Madame President was busy with all that, her husband was stiff for most of the episode. I was shocked that they killed off the Carly Pope character so soon, though her character was useless so I think it was the right move. Mr Taylor found some limpness in his hands and managed to kill Agent Gedge. The question to ask ourselves now is, will anyone believe his story? I hope to god that he doesn’t end up in custody and the next few hours will be spent him trying to prove he had nothing to do with it.
Geeky Thoughts:-
- The true explanation of why Tony was saved was discovered. Apparently Henderson wanted Tony alive so he could use him against Jack. Sounds plausible to me and I just liked that we got a mention of Robocop.
- Those bikes in the hanger. I wished to myself that we’d see a scene with Jack and Tony on bikes in a massive chase, Con Air style.
A decent enough episode in retrospect but while things moved forward, it took too long for that to happen. Though as long as the pace is kept up through the season, then I’ll have no problem with it. Something that needs to happen soon is a good action scene. I want to see Jack and Tony kicking ass again.
Quote of the episode: Chloe “No, I’m a stay at home mom.”
Favourite Scene: The discussion in the van about why Tony was saved.
