Ghostbusters TV Version

There comes a time when films are to be aired on television that they must be edited so they can abide by broadcasting laws.  Swearing, violence, nudity may be edited so it is safe to air on television.  As seen before on Geeky Talk we’ve seen some examples of how certain films are edited for television.  Even Ghostbusters isn’t safe from the hack jobs.  The funny thing we’ve these examples is that it seems that two versions of certain scenes were filmed, one for theaters and one for television.  These examples are from Ghostbusters.net, hope you find these hilarious as I do.

25 years of Ghostbusters

8th of June 1984 was the American release of Ghostbusters and for the first time a part of the world got to see a film that would become a staple of popular culture for the next quarter of a century.  Ghostbusters, put it lightly is my favourite movie of all time.  I watched it first at a young age, was probably around eight.  It made me laugh and it scared the shit out of me, the library ghost and the arms coming out of Dana’s chair are prime examples of what will freak any kid out.  Once I got older, I watched it again, it became funnier.  Jokes I never got as a kid, I got when I was in my teens.  It’s a movie that I’ve seen over a hundred times, one that I could watch a hundred more and never get tired of it.  It’s a rare film that’s stood the test of time and still entertains children and adults alike.

Here at Geeky Talk, I thought I would celebrate 25 years since it’s release.  So throughout the rest of June, there will be special posts all about the film.  If you have anything to say, I would love to hear from people who love the film as well so share your fondest memories.
