4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 – 8 Greatest Scenes of Lost

The show has offered us many great scenes throughout the six seasons.  Lost is a one of a kind television show, nothing like it before and probably will be nothing like it ever.  A great scene can be full of action, death, love, twists or random explosions.  These are my top eight greatest scenes of the show.

4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42 – The 4 Greatest Deaths of Lost

Over the six seasons, a lot of much loved characters and some not so much loved have died.  Drowned, shot, blown up, killed by a black smoke, on the island there are many ways to go out.  If you’re unlucky enough, your soul will be trapped on the island forever, all of you left behind will be strange whispers that the living can hear.

These are my pick of the 4 top deaths of the show.  Click on as obviously there will be spoilers.

My Top 5 Favourite Christmas Films

5) Gremlins

Gizmo might be cute but he’s probably not the best Christmas present to have.  My favourite Christmas films are very much like my favourite films of all time.  Movies I saw when I was a kid.  Gremlins is one of my all time favourite movies and I have fond memories of watching the film at Christmas when I was a young boy.

4) Home Alone

Home Alone is the essential Christmas movie.  It’s a childhood favourite and it embodies everything that makes a wonderful Christmas film.

3) Home Alone 2

In all honestly I actually prefer the second one to the first.  It’s probably the setting of Christmas in New York that does it.  While the final act isn’t as strong as the first, it’s the story of being a kid on your own at Christmas in New York that seems so magical to me.

2) Die Hard

McClane, action, explosions and Run DMC make a great Christmas movie.  The best action film of all time, one of my all time favourite movies.  Not watching Die Hard at Christmas is like not having a Christmas tree up.  It is tradition.

1) Scrooged

I adore Bill Murray.  This modern retelling of A Christmas Carol is so exceptionally brilliant and Murray is on top of his game.  It makes you laugh, makes you cry and then by the end you’re singing along with the rest.  Christmas just wouldn’t be the same without a watch of good old Scrooged.

MERRY CHRISTMAS

James Bond Week – Top 7 Bond Films

It’s Friday and Quantum of Solace has been released here in the UK.  Sadly I am not seeing it today but will be watching it on Sunday.  Expect a review Monday night (UK time).

Remember these lists are my personal favourites, so don’t get mad if you disagree.  These are my top 7 favourite Bond films, everyone has a different opinion when it comes to the best Bond film and mine sure is different.  The list will go from 001 to 007, with 007 being the best.

001 – Goldfinger

This would probably be most people’s first choice as the best Bond film but not mine.  I adore Goldfinger, it set the benchmark for every film afterwards.  It’s the staple of what a true Bond film should contain.  Great plot.  Fantastic bad guys.  A fucking Aston Martin with ejector seat.  There is nothing not to love about Goldfinger but I was born in 85 so my appreciation for it is not as much as some others.

002 – On Her Majesty’s Secret Service

This film devides people and I have no idea why.  I can understand the criticisms of Lazenby as Bond even though I think he did a great job.  The final scene is enough justification for him to have had that part.  OHMSS is one of the best Bond films and I feel that if Connery was Bond then this would easily be favourite among most Bond fans.

003 – Goldeneye

Introduced us to Pierce Brosnan who did a fantastic job as being Bond.  This brought Bond into the nineties and reinvented the character once again.  The film really delves deep into what Bond is like as a character, which is why I like it so much.  It’s no where near perfect but it’s a truly masterful film that we haven’t seen been matched since.

004 – Live and Let Die

We’re once again introduced to a new Bond, Roger Moore.  Moore was the Bond I grew up with and you probably are wondering, considering I was born in 85, why is Moore the Bond I grew up with?  Well his films were always on television and this was the only way to see James Bond films.  What I like about Live and Let Die is that is goes against the type, it’s a much smaller story about drug trafficking.  This is a blaxploitation film and I like it for that reason.

005 – The Spy Who Loved Me

Certainly the best Moore film, it has everything you need.  Amazing gadgets, hot woman, great villains and lots of breathtaking action.  That opening ski sequence is enough for this to be on any top list of best Bond.

006 – Licence To Kill

I can hear you people saying, Licence To Kill?  Yes I’m being serious and I know this film is disregarded by many people but you are all wrong, this film is criminally underrated.  This is the Bond that most reflects what Ian Fleming originally wrote.  Bond is not invincible, he bleeds, he hurts, he is human after all and this film portrayed the real Bond.  Say what you want about Dalton but I think he’s a superb Bond, a long time before Craig was doing the whole realistic Bond take, Dalton was showing audiences what the character truly should was like.  The film is violent and unrelenting, it’s like Die Hard but with Bond.

007 – You Only Live Twice

My personal favourite by miles, I have so much love for You Only Live Twice it’s unbelievable.  I love Japan and the setting elevates the film beyond anything before or since.  The Bond franchise has always been renown for great locations but Japan was a brilliant place to set a Bond film.  Plus it has one of the best final acts in any film, the whole attack on Blofeld’s Volcano base is immense.  Action at it’s finest, this was 1967 and that scene still holds up today and even rivals action scenes of today, truly magnificent.

James Bond Week – Top 7 Bond Villains

I know this was supposed to be the top 7 Bond kills but sadly I had to change it because it was hard to come up with seven best Bond kills.  These choices include the main villains and and the henchmen.  These lists are my personal favourites, so don’t get mad if you disagree.  The list will go from 001 to 007, with 007 being the best.

001 – Dr. Julius No (Dr. No)

The original Bond villain has to be in the list.

002 – Rosa Klebb (From Russia With Love)

The only woman on my list but certainly the most terrifying.

003 – Franz Sanchez (Licence To Kill)

I love Sanchez, Robert Davi is amazing and he plays him so well.  Some might disagree with him being here but what he did to Felix and his wife is sure enough reason for him to be here.

004 – Oddjob (Goldfinger)

It’s Oddjob, his hat can kill.

005 – Jaws (The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker)

Everyone loves Jaws, he’s the mute, metal teeth villain who first appeared in TSWLM and then reappeared again in Moonraker and turned good.

006 – Ernst Stavro Blofeld (You Only Live Twice)

Only Donald Pleasance portryal of Blofeld should be counted.  The rest should be forgotten.

007 – Auric Goldfinger (Goldfinger)

This is a pretty easy choice for the best.  “No Mr. Bond, I expect you to die.”

James Bond Week – Top 7 Bond Theme Songs

These lists are my personal favourites, so don’t get mad if you disagree.  These are my top 7 favourite theme songs.  The list will go from 001 to 007, with 007 being the best.

001 – For Your Eyes Only by Sheena Easton

002 – A View To A Kill by Duran Duran

003 – Licence To Kill by Gladys Knight

004 – You Only Live Twice by Nancy Sinatra

005 – Nobody Does It Better by Carly Simon

006 – Goldfinger by Shirley Bassey

007 – Live And Let Die by Paul McCartney

James Bond Week – Top 7 Bond Girls

These lists are my personal favourites, so don’t get mad if you disagree.  The list will go from 001 to 007, with 007 being the best.

001 – Famke Jansen (Xenia Onatopp)

002 – Barbara Bach (Anya Amasova)

003 – Akiko Wakabayashi (Aki)

004 – Diana Rigg (Teresa di Vincenzo)

005 – Eva Green (Vesper Lynd)

006 – Honor Blackman (Pussy Galore)

007 – Ursula Andress (Honey Ryder)
