James Bond Week

Quantum of Solace is released here in the UK on October 31st and I thought to celebrate that, I’d do a James Bond week.  So starting from Monday and everyday until Friday the 31st will be a top 7 list.  These will include my top 7 favourite opening sequences to my top 7 favourite Bond films.  Here is what each day will bring:-

Monday – Top 7 Opening Scenes
Tuesday –
Top 7 Bond Girls
Wednesday –
Top 7 Bond Songs
Thursday –
Top 7 Bond Kills
Friday –
Top 7 Bond Films

I’m hoping to get to see the film on the 31st and if I do expect a review by the end of the weekend.

RIP Paul Newman

It’s always sad when I have to write these up.  Legendary actor and this man deserves to be called a legend, Paul Newman has passed away at the age of 83 after battling with lung cancer.   He passed away in his home in Westport, Connecticut.  An acting superstar, his most ironic role was Butch in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.  Newman retired from acting in 2007, in his amazing career he had been nominated ten times for an Academy Award but only won it once with 1987′s Colour of Money.

Newman is survived by his wife Joanne Woodward and his five daughters.  Legend can be used incorrectly on many occasions but this man was an acting legend, RIP Paul Newman.

Emmys 2008

Well the Emmys are on tonight and frankly I couldn’t really care that much.  For one I live in England and two, well for the most part the Emmys suck, with the people who truly deserve getting an award getting shafted.  Well if you are interested in them then I’ve made this post for you people.  You can view the nominees by clicking on the link below.

Emmy Nominees

Here are who and what I want to win:-

Outstanding Drama Series – Lost
Outstanding Comedy Series – Entourage
Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series – Mary-Louise Parker
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series – Jeremy Piven
Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series – Michael Emerson

The rest I don’t really care about or are nominees from shows which I have never seen before.

I will put up the winners in this post tomorrow.

The Winners

You know what fuck the Emmys, I’m not bitter in the slightest that only one of my picks actually one, well done Mr Piven.  I can even excuse that Lost didn’t win because it was just good to have it nominated again.  Though Michael Emerson not winning is disgraceful, I’ve not seen the actual winners work but Emerson acted his ass off in season 4 and seemed like the public number 1 pick.  So I’m just going to link you to IMDB to find out the results.

Two Glorious Quantum Of Solace TV Spots. Plus Hear For The First Time, The Theme Song ‘Another Way To Die.’

Great day for Bond fans, here are two amazing TV spots and you can hear for the first time, the theme song ‘Another Way To Die’ by Alicia Keys ft. Jack White.  The song fwas eatured on Radio 2 today here in the UK. You can listen to the song via youtube or listen to it via BBC iPlayer.  If you are listenting to it via iPlayer skip to around 2 hours and 27 minute mark, that’s when the song plays.  The iPlayer one won’t be up for too long, that’s why the youtube video was included as well but the quality is much better through iPlayer.

RIP Don LaFontaine

A legendary icon in Film and TV has passed away. Don LaFontaine has died at the age of 68, he passed away at the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles apparenty due to complications caused by an ongoing lung-related illness, said his agent.

If you dont know who Don LaFontaine is and I’m assuming probably some of you don’t, then you would recognise his voice.  He is the legendary movie trailer voice who has voiced over 5000 movies and 750,000 TV spots.  He’s done voice work for every medium possibe, if you look at his resume, it’s packed full of greats.  He is the voice, you’ll hear it in your head as you read this.  All of my life I’ve heard his voice speak over trailers for movies.

IN A WORLD WITHOUT Don LaFontaine’s voice, is a sad place to be if you’re a movie buff.
